Hummer & Waltz Auctioneers

Hummer & Waltz Auctioneers was formed in 1992 by Jonathan Hummer and Jan Waltz. Jon and Jan are cousins that grew up together and had many of the same interests. One of those interests was auctions.

Growing up in a family farming and contracting business, Jon quickly took interest in all types of vehicles, heavy equipment and farm tractors. After attending many of these types of auctions as a teen, Jon soon decided to become an auctioneer, he had practiced the art of the auctioneers chant for many years while driving tractors and trucks for his fathers’ business, and it wasn’t long after high school when Jon decided to pursue auctioneering as a career. Since graduating The World Wide Auction College, Mason CityIowa, in 1984 and the Harrisburg Area Community College (Auctioneering) in 1985, Jon has been a full-time professional auctioneer.

Known and recognized for his rapid fire chant, Jon quickly became one of the northeast regions most sought after and successful automobile auctioneers in only a few years after acquiring his title as Colonial. Jon has traveled from auction to auction, from Boston to West Palm Beach , subcontracting his rapid chant to many automotive / marine remarketing and insurance companies before expanding his business to include all types of auctions. Jons current auction experience is top of his field, with history in conducting auctions of  Real estate, Farm Real Estate, Automobiles, Boats, Collector and Racing Cars, Salvage Cars, Trucks, RVs, Motorcycles, Jewelry, Coins & Stamps, Antiques, Heavy Equipment, Farm Equipment, Tools & Contracting Equipment, and high profile (Gala) fund raising events to mention a few. Jons’ special auction talents also include Internet LIVE auctions. He has interacted with many online platforms, such as “Simulcast”, “LIVEBlock”, “Online Ringman” and “Proxibid” systems that direct internet bidding directly to the auctioneer via monitors located in the auction ring. Jon has received advertising awards and “Presidents Choice” awards from the Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association, and is able to communicate asking bids in Spanish and English.
